About

Penn State PRide is a blog written by PR students for PR students. Managed by members of the Communications Committee, Penn State PRide provides relevant trends and topics for any inspiring PR professional.

PRSSA HISTORY:

The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) is the world’s largest public relations professional organization. It founded the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) in 1968 in order to cultivate a mutually advantageous relationship between public relations students and professional public relations practitioners. It further aims to foster a student’s understanding of modern theories and procedures, to instill in them a professional attitude, and to encourage them to adhere to the highest ideals of the practice of public relations.

PENN STATE PRSSA:

Penn State’s PRSSA chapter was formed in September of 1997 in order to help all students, regardless of major, broaden their background and knowledge of public relations and the communications industry. Through hard work and dedication, the founding officers worked with the PRSSA National Committee to organize an official chapter. Within four years of receiving its charter, the diverse Lawrence G. Foster Penn State Chapter of PRSSA has grown to become the largest student run organization within the largest College of Communications in the United States.

Our chapter currently has four different committees in which students can get involved with:

1.) Fundraising Committee (Freshmen & Sophomores)

2.) Event Planning Committee (Juniors & Seniors)

3.) Communications Committee

4.) Philanthrophy Committee (THON)

  1. As a 2008 graduate of Penn State in Public Relations and former VP, exec. board member and committee chair, I am thrilled with what you have done with this organization. You are learning so much and will have heaps of experience to bring to any job after Penn State. Congratulations on a job well done and keep it up! Hope to see you in Washington, D.C. for next year’s PRSSA/PRSA international conference!
